Amy received her Nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital in Freeport, IL. This career was always the center of her life.   She was instrumental in starting a medical clinic for undocumented immigrants with the Immigration and Nationalization Services in El Paso, Tx.  Amy and her husband, John, helped establish a free clinic in Kerrville, Tx.  Amy volunteered at Western Missouri Medical Center and was on the Lifelong Learning Program Board for the University of Central Missouri.  For five years, she volunteered as a role player for the Central Missouri Police Academy cadets' final practical scenario evaluations.  Amy was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Amy loved to travel and had many homes in many states from "glen to glen": Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, Washington, Louisiana, and Missouri. She loved reading, poetry, music, chats with her sisters and visiting antique shops.   She enjoyed a game of dominoes, solitaire, or a trip to the casino especially if she won.   Amy was fond of putting her toes in a sandy beach at South Padre Island, Tx.

Amy is preceded in death by her husband John and Jan Phelan, her youngest sister.  Survivors included five sisters: Bertie Tilberg, Geneva Montgomery, Maudie Stoltenberg, Eva Alley, and Bonnie Hallie. Her three daughters: Lori Marionneaux (Edwin), Diane Jane Heavin (Carol), and Lisa Gailey (Patrick).  Her two sons: John Heavin and Christopher Heavin (AmyJo).  And her eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
