Obituary

Betty Lou Crawshaw, age 89, of Knob Noster, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at her home.

She was born January 21, 1937, in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of Harvey "Harve" and Zula (Blakeley) Byford.

On October 11, 1952, she and John Albert Crawshaw were united in marriage in Purcell, OK, and enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 71 years until John went to heaven two years ago. Betty was a wonderful mom, wife, grandma, and great grandma. Her first grandson called her Nanny, and that became her affectionate title for most of the family. She loved being a homemaker: her family was always her top priority, and she enjoyed making a comfortable home and delicious meals for everyone. She also loved bowling, and for many years was one of the top women bowlers at Whiteman AFB and carried an average in the 180s. She also enjoyed gardening, playing games, and spending fun time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Basketball, volleyball, badminton, frisbee, Stratego, and Scrabble were all games she loved to play with her children and grandchildren.

Betty had a sincere faith in Jesus and often supported her son's ministry by attending the churches he was serving. She bought him many gospel records over the years.

Betty is survived by her sons, John, Ron Sr. (Sherrie), and Randy (Julie); a sister, Maudie Howard; five grandchildren, James, Ron Jr. (Taylor), Jason (Lilly), Sophia (David), Nathan, and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Crawshaw; her parents, Harve and Zula Byford; four siblings, and a grandson, Richard.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Crawshaw officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Missouri Veteran Cemetery in Higginsville. Pallbearers will be Ron Crawshaw, Sr., James Crawshaw, Ron Crawshaw, Jr., Jason Crawshaw, Nathan Crawshaw, and Randy Crawshaw.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to His House of Worship and left in care of the funeral home.
