Brian Kevin
Bratton
Apr 30, 1956 — Jul 6, 2022
Knob Noster
Brian K. Bratton, age 66, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022 in Kansas City, MO.
Brian Kevin Bratton was born to Cecil Bratton and Claudette Seals on April 30, 1956 in Clinton, MO. Brian was considered a genius by his mother Claudette when she recalled a time, she was changing a light bulb and Brian picked up the discarded bulb and remarks, "the wire in this bulb is called a tungsten wire". His mom was so impressed and often wished she had the funds to send him to a gifted and talented program. Another fond memory of Brian is the nickname "Ernie" given to him by his brother Cecil Jr. He was given this nickname due to his resemblance to a character on the television show "My Three Sons". Upon graduating from Knob Noster High School, Brian went on to earn a college degree in criminal justice from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Brian was a loving and devoted father to his son, Kevin Bratton who blessed him with a granddaughter Serenity Bratton. Brian met his wife, LaDonna, at Enersys, formerly called Gates, in the 1980s. They were married May 29, 1999. Together they raised a granddaughter, Markeisha, upon her mother Charisse's death as well as Kevin part time. Brian's favorite month was May because it was the month of the Bratton Family Reunion; thus, the reason why Brian and LaDonna decided to marry during this time. He was the first to arrive at the park to welcome the family as they arrived. Upon graduating from college, Brian went to Los Angeles, CA to work as border patrol for a few years. He returned to Knob Noster, MO where he decided he'd never leave again. He had a long career with Walmart and retired in April 2021 after 20 plus years of service to the City of Sedalia and its community.
Brian was a believer in Jesus Christ and was assured of his position in heaven and welcomed the reunion that awaited him from those who preceded him in death, his mothers' Claudette Seals, and Barbara Bratton, brother's Edwin Bratton and Andrew Gant, sisters Lorena Barnes and Michelle Denning. Left to cherish his memory are, his wife, La Donna Bratton, his father Cecil Bratton, Sr., son Kevin Bratton, granddaughters Markeisha (Deandre) and Serenity Bratton, and siblings, Michelle Bratton, Michael Montgomery (Maria), Melinda Simon (Malcolm), Cecil Bratton, Jr. (Stacey), Gilda Weber (Robert), Kelly Holliday (John), Mia Benton, Benjamin Watson (Nathtasha), Cindy Shockley Dodd, and a host of aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
