Obituary

Sgt. Maj. Ret. Bruce W. Jolliff, USA, age 66, of Jefferson City, MO, succumbed to a short battle with cancer and died peacefully, surrounded by family, Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center.

Bruce was born November 24, 1955, in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of Jack Wesley and Hazel Corrine (Treece) Jolliff.

Bruce married the love of his life Barbara Jean Bates on June 14, 2013.

Bruce enlisted into the United States Army as a young, wet-behind-the-ear private at the age of 18. His career led him to his final post as Sergeant Major Bruce Jolliff, Deputy Director, Missouri Military Funeral Honors.  Patriotic, proud, and ever so humble, Bruce retired from all military duties December 31 st , 2020.

Bruce was a passionate soldier and leader known for his fierce loyalty and reliability without hesitation.  Outside of his many, many, many military honors, awards, and accolades, Bruce would tell you that his proudest achievements came in the words of Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle, Son, Grandpa, and Friend.  He loved his family, adored his cats, and enjoyed every minute spent at his home away from home, camping with friends, family, and loved ones while taking forever on the grill, pounding Busch beer, and watching his family grow right in front of him.  He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs football fan, a Kansas City Royals fan (if and when they were winning) and always known for his smile, sense of humor, witty personality, and spot-on Donald Duck impersonations.

Fly high Sergeant Major Bruce Wayne Jolliff, fly high.  Gotham will be ok until we see each other again.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Barb Jolliff; his children, Jason (Michelle) Jolliff, Misty (Johnny) Allen, Catina (Trinity) Jolliff, and Carl (Nicole) Jolliff; his grandchildren, Bobbie "Princess," Brooke "Angel," Blake "Buddy," Tyler "Hoss," Devin "Dub," Kailei "Queen Bee," Draven "Skeeter," Christian "Sweetness," and Conner "Hot Shot;" his great grandchildren, Evelynn "Duchess," Ezra "Duke," and Charlotte "Lil Lady,"; his siblings, Jackie (Don) Jolliff, Roger (Rhonda) Jolliff, Kitty (Chris) Jolliff, and Royal (Beth) Jolliff; many beloved nieces and nephews, countless friends, and mother of his children, LaPaula Jolliff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Hazel Jolliff, and his brother, Robin Jolliff.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Houser Millard Family Chapel in Jefferson City. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. officiated by "Big Johnny" Allen.
