Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christine Joan Ward, age 85, of Warrensburg, Missouri. She peacefully concluded her journey on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Born on October 2, 1938, in Hampshire, England, Christine was the beloved daughter of Reginald and Florence (Gisborn) Collacott.

On February 11, 1956, Christine united in marriage with her devoted husband, Billy W. Ward, marking the beginning of an incredible 68-year partnership. Together, they transitioned to the United States in 1957, where they built a fulfilling life surrounded by their loved ones.

Christine was a woman of many talents, excelling as a beautician and successfully managing her own greenhouse business. Her creative interests extended to painting and gardening, pursuits she cherished alongside spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling back to her native England and seeing her family there. She also loved her furry friends, especially dogs.

Left to cherish her memory are her dedicated husband and their four daughters: Gale Matthews (Troy), Deborah Jane Rosebush (Steve), Julia Bozarth (Jeff), and Glenda Elder (Mike); two sisters in Witney, England: Gill Horne and Wendy Townsend; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Christine's legacy continues through her family, a testament to her warmth, love, and grace in every moment.

A joint celebration of the lives of both Christine and her beloved husband, Billy W. Ward, will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, MO. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation, a cause close to Christine's heart, and can be entrusted to the care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
