Obituary

Cliff Harris, age 63, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at his home in Warrensburg. He was born January 27, 1960 in Warrensburg, the son of Jon Harris and Shirley Richards. On April 13, 2002 he was united in marriage to Leah Dennis at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

Cliff was a hard worker and entrepreneur from day one; he started in business at the age of 10, earning extra money by starting a window cleaning service. After his education was complete he became a heavy equipment operator and eventually found his true calling in the automobile industry. Cliff worked at multiple dealerships in the beginning of his career and was charged with opening many locations along the way. He got his start at Summit Ford before moving on to Independence Lincoln/Mercury and Odessa Chrysler, eventually purchasing Warrensburg Chrysler in 1997. Continuing to grow his business, he purchased Warrensburg Ford in 2005, expanded into Marshall in 2006, and to California, Missouri in 2020.

Along the way, Cliff was recognized by his peers with multiple awards. He didn't talk about them much, but inside he was extremely proud of them all. They are too numerous to list but a few include: Top 50 Ford Sales People (1986), Masters Award for outstanding sales achievement and dedication to customer service (1986), 10 separate times awarded the Jim Moran Award of Excellence for outstanding performance, as well as the Chrysler 5-Star rating. In 2023, his dealership in Warrensburg was recognized by the Chamber of Commerce as its 'Business of the Year'.

His business successes allowed Cliff to be involved in his community in many ways. He loved people and found joy helping those in the community. Some of the organizations that he was proud to be associated with include: Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Project Graduation, the Warrensburg School Foundation, Wounded Warriors, Band Car, UCM Athletics, Main Street, Central Missouri Speedway (sponsoring multiple drivers), Gage Gymnastics, the Johnson County Rodeo, the YES program, the Johnson County Cancer Foundation, the American Heart Association Heart Walk along with many others.

Cliff's story would not be complete without mentioning his love for his family. He is survived by his wife Leah; his children Clifford Adam Harris (Bryanne), Amanda Harris and Evan Harris; his mother Shirley Richards (Jim Propeck); and his sisters Teresa Arnold (Scottie) and Brenda Blum (Joe). Cliff was blessed with six grandchildren: Brooklynn, Clifford Jon, Brody, Victoria, Aubrey and Jesse, along with multiple nieces and nephews. His father Jon Harris preceded him in death.
