Deems M. Brooks, age 86, of Warrensburg passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.

He was born September 1, 1934 in Lattimore, North Carolina, the son of Elijah B. and Madge (Wright) Brooks.

On August 27, 1956 he and Babs (King) were united in marriage in Nashville, Tennessee.

Deems was a Professor of Speech Communications at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg for 24-years.  He was deeply loved for his curious mind and zest for life.

Deems is survived by his wife, Babs, of the home. Daughter Melissa (Larry) Grant, and a son, Deems Mark Brooks Jr. He is also survived by a grandson, Austin (Susan) Grant, granddaughter, Calee (Jessica) Grant, great-grandson, Eli Grant and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Grant.  Also surviving is a brother, Glenn (Sheila) Brooks and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation services were provided by Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home.   A celebration of life will take place in the future.
