Della Josephine "Jo" Underwood, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on Friday, June 21, 1934, to Robert and Lula (Tinker) Wheatley in Knob Noster.

On August 30, 1958, she and Richard James Underwood were united in marriage at Whiteman AFB, MO.

Della enjoyed family time, sewing, reading, and following genealogical history in her spare time.

She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Monique) Underwood, David (Heather) Underwood; her daughter, Dana Johnston (Jim Wester); her beloved grandchildren, Brittney Underwood (Dillon McCollam), Taylor (Brett) Morey, Quinn Underwood (Gerardo Munoz), Kevin (Amber) Johnston, and Kyle (Lyndsy) Johnston; and great-grandchildren Sawyer Johnston, Beau Johnston, Emersyn Johnston, Gunner Johnston, Grady Johnston, and Declan McCollam.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Underwood; son-in-law, Bear Johnston; and granddaughter, Whitney Rose Underwood.

A family visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens in Warrensburg, Missouri. The pallbearers will be Kevin Johnston, Kyle Johnston, Ray Kalm, Jerry Howard, Rick Anderson, and Lee Jost.
