Dennis Lee Morgan, age 68, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.

He was born November 30, 1954, in Warrensburg, the son of Leveth Eugene Morgan and Maxine (Goodwin) Mendes.

Dennis grew up in Warrensburg, MO. He picked up mechanical traits during high school and while watching his father work. That's where his love of all things auto mechanics came from. He was a huge fan of Nascar racing and drag racing. Pretty much all things racing. Dennis worked most of his life as an auto mechanic and also spent many years employed at Royal Industrial in Holden, MO. He met and then married Michele Cummings while working there. They went on to have five children together. He later started working at Continental Deli in Concordia, MO. This is where he met his wife, Cecelia. On December 28, 1996, he and Cecelia Mark were united in marriage in Warrensburg. They spent many years living in Concordia before moving to Blue Springs and then relocating to Independence. Dennis loved being close to his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Cecelia Morgan; his children, Chris Swinson (Elaine), Dennis Lee Morgan II (Lindsey), Michael Leveth Eugene Morgan, Elisabeth Ashley Morgan-Kahube, and Tiffani Marie Williams (Daniel); his step children, James Harper (Michelle) and Jessica Harper; his siblings, Gwyndelon Harrington (John), James Morgan, and Harold Morgan; a maternal aunt, Eleanor Pullins; as well as 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, David Morgan, Kenny Morgan, Ricky Morgan, and Genevieve Butler; and a sister-in-law, Hellen Morgan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
