Obituary

Dwight Lindell Clark of Denton, TX, went home to be with the Lord on June 27, 2021, at the age of 91 years.

He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Bob and Lynn Clark of Hickory Creek, TX and David and Vanessa Clark of Spring Branch, TX. He leaves three grandsons and their wives, Brian and Tiffany Clark, Blake and Erin Clark, Benjamin and Lakeisha Billingsley, along with nine great grandchildren: Luke, Jackson, Lana, Gillian, Juliana, Owen, Henry, and Mary Clark, and Vara Billingsley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Maxine Clark, his daughter, Sheryl Lee Davis, his mother, Velma Clark, his great-grandson Patrick, and his sisters, Mary V. Saxton and Dorothy Thomason.

Dwight was born in Hastings, NB, on October 15, 1929, but grew up in Leeton, MO, where he helped his mom run the family farm. It was in Leeton that he met the love of his life, Patsy Brown, and they were married on December 3, 1947. In those early days, Dwight worked in Warrensburg, and Patsy finished school. They eventually moved to Lenexa, KS, where Dwight and Patsy raised their three children. In 1968, the family moved to San Antonio, TX when he became the Central Texas Service Manager for twenty three Buick dealerships.

Dwight and Patsy shared a wonderful love story and marriage, which was tragically cut short due to her death in a car accident on July 7, 1970.

In his late 50's, Dwight accepted an early retirement offer from General Motors. He had spent many years traveling the roads of Texas for his job, but he turned in his car and his keys and took up a new travel passion….he bought an RV, pulled out his trusty Atlas Map, and planned his next adventure. When his brother, Dee, retired, he & his wife Jane bought a motorhome, and then the fun really began. Dwight, Dee & Jane traveled all over the Southwestern United States, and probably a few places we don't even know about! They were avid bird-watchers, and enjoyed spotting and photographing thousands of varieties of birds. Dwight kept a home base in Spring Branch, TX, but he never stayed put for long. He was born to travel!

David, Vanessa, Ben & Lakeisha lived nearby, and kept a watchful eye as he aged, and he was fiercely independent to the end. After he moved to an assisted living community near Bob and Lynn, he insisted on using his walker until he had to use a wheelchair. He eventually needed to call for help to the bathroom, and on occasion, he followed orders. But just three weeks ago, on a visit, Lynn reminded him to "pull the cord" to call the nurse for help to the bathroom. But with a twinkle in his eye, he looked straight at her, and said, "it's easier just to sneak in there before they catch me!"

Dwight placed his faith and trust in Jesus as a young man. His family will miss him greatly, but they are comforted in their loss, confident that they will one day be reunited with him in Heaven.
