Obituary

Ellen B. DeAtley Nace, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on July 2, 2023, at Western Missouri Medical Center.

Ellen was born on July 25, 1934, in Centerview, MO, to Burnis DeAtley and Edna (Thomas) DeAtley.

Ellen married the love of her life, Johnny Nace, on January 1, 1953, in Warrensburg. She had a deep passion for music and she found solace and joy in the melodies that filled her life. In her spare time, Ellen could often be found working in her yard, tending to the flowers and plants that brought color and beauty to her surroundings. In 2019 Ellen retired from Swisher's Farm and Home where she had worked for 35 years.

One of Ellen's most remarkable qualities was her ability to touch the lives of everyone she met. Her warm smile, compassionate heart, and genuine kindness endeared her to all who knew her. Ellen's presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her, and her absence will be deeply felt by the many lives she touched.

Ellen is survived by her son, David Nace (Becky) of Kansas City, daughter, Lori Nace of Warrensburg, and son, Jimmy Nace (Carla) of Warrensburg. She will be forever remembered by her four grandchildren, Norman Dine, John Dine, Robbie Dine, and Shelby Nace, as well as her three great-grandchildren. Ellen also leaves behind her dear sister, Mary Ann Oster, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Johnny Nace, her daughter, Brenda Dine, and her brother, Dale DeAtley.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. A service celebrating Ellen's life will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the funeral home, followed by a graveside ceremony at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg, MO.

Contributions may be made to the Ellen Nace Memorial Fund with checks made payable to Lori Nace and can be left in care of the funeral home.
