Obituary

Mae Hertig, 64, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 31, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Mae was born February 26, 1961, in Bay, Arkansas. On February 14, 1987, she married the love of her life, Steven Hertig, while stationed at Hill AFB in Utah. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and service.

Mae graduated from high school in 1979 and proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1982. In 1986, she transitioned to the Air Force Reserves, serving as a medic until 1988 while also earning her Associate's degree in Nursing. She and Steve settled in Warrensburg in 1991, where Mae continued her career as a family practice and family advocacy nurse at Whiteman Air Force Base. In 2006, Mae furthered her education by graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She retired in 2017 after decades of compassionate service, during which she touched countless lives with her skill and kindness.

Her dedication to caring for others extended beyond her profession. Mae was an active member of Northside Christian Church and devoted time to ministries such as Standing in the Gap and Community Health. Whether through volunteering, friendship, or simple acts of kindness, Mae was always ready to lend a hand and brighten someone's day.

Mae also loved the outdoors and cherished time at the family home in Hardy, Arkansas. She enjoyed fishing, antiquing, traveling south for the winter, and attending live music events. Wherever she went, she made friends and left behind joy and laughter.

Mae is survived by her husband, Steve; her son, David (Averi); grandson, Jax; mother- and father-in-law Harold and Sharon Hertig of Gladstone, Michigan; brother-in-law Craig Hertig (Laurie) of Pembine, Wisconsin; siblings Mondene Hill (Gary) of Brooklyn, Arkansas, Ann Gillen Bothe (Ed) of Jefferson City, Charley Isbell (Kim) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Will Isbell (Kathy) of Hardy, Arkansas; sister-in-law Theresa Isbell of Bay, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews who adored her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Reva Isbell, and brothers, Tim and Howard Isbell.

Mae's legacy of faith, service, and friendship will be carried on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Northside Christian Church in Warrensburg, Missouri. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Northside Christian Church.
