Francis "Skinny" Harrison, age 92 and affectionately called "Uncle Skinny" or "Papa Skinny," passed away at home in La Monte, Missouri on Monday, August 23, 2021.

He was born February 25, 1929, in La Monte, the son of Daniel and Nannie (Shernaman) Harrison.

On June 23, 1972, Skinny and Veva Baxley were united in marriage.

Skinny was a veteran with the Army and was highly decorated for his service. He was a farmer, welder, and mechanic all of his life and ran the Friendly Tavern in La Monte.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his sisters Theresa Forbes (Wade), Louise Walters (Ed), Rosie Wiskur (Dale), and Ruthie Warren (Dan); as well as stepchildren Patricia Scheiderer, Larry Baxley, and Phil Baxley.

Skinny is survived by his siblings Barbara Hughes of La Monte, LeRoy and Vera Harrison of La Monte, David and Bessie Harrison of Sedalia, and Martha Jo and Elmer Harbaugh; stepchildren Charles Baxley of Excelsior Springs, Gloria Young of Hewett, TX, Cheryle Tietjens of Hewett, TX, and Cynthia Langon of Marshall, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a special pet named Oliver.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Moore Funeral Home in La Monte. Graveside services will follow at La Monte Cemetery with Melvin and Mark Ficken officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the time of service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to either the American Cancer Society or St. Croix Hospice and can be left in the care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
