Gary Lee Cadwallader

Gary L. Cadwallader 76, of Warrensburg, MO perished in a home fire on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, in Warrensburg, MO.

Gary was born to Wilbur E. Cadwallader and Mina J. (Shaw) Cadwallader in Jackson County, MO on Oct. 23, 1948, and lived the majority of his life in Kansas City, MO and surrounding communities.

Gary received a BA in Art from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1972. He was a computer programmer for most of his life although he continued to paint part-time. In 2011 he became serious about painting and has exhibited widely since then. He is a signature member of the Watercolor Honor Society and the Missouri Watercolor Society. Since 2011 he has earned eight Best in Show Awards, two People's Choice Awards, and 27 juried acceptances including the Missouri Watercolor International, the Kansas Watercolor National, the River Market Regional, Missouri 50, and Watercolor USA. In 2016 he was awarded a fellowship in Artist INC KC. In February 2017 he was featured in a Missouri Life article:

Passion Meets Reality. In 2017 he was award signature membership in the Watercolor Honor Society. In 2018 he joined the board of the Watercolor USA Honor Society.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and 1 grandchild. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Coleman), 3 sons; Alan, Steven, Ryan, and a daughter Jenni Happy, and grandchildren.

A celebration of life and posthumous showing of Gary's art will be planned for a future date.
