Gene Monroe
Peoples Jr.
Nov 5, 1970 — Apr 17, 2025
Gene Monroe Peoples Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love.
Born on November 5, 1970, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Gene Monroe Peoples Sr. and Donna Peoples, Gene lived a life defined by service, humility, and heartfelt connection.
In August 1990, Gene answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States military. For 21 years, he embodied honor, discipline, and loyalty until his retirement-principles that continued to guide him throughout his life.
On February 11, 1995, Gene married his beloved wife, Katrina Peoples. Together they created a home filled with laughter, love, and a deep devotion to family. Though soft-spoken, Gene's presence radiated strength. His actions spoke louder than words, and his kindness left a lasting imprint on all who knew him.
A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Gene delighted in life's simple joys-feeding hummingbirds, fishing, barbecuing, and spending quality time with those he loved. A true tech enthusiast, he built his own computers, enjoyed flight simulators, and was always curious about the latest innovations.
Gene shared his talents generously, especially at Whiteman Spirit Chapel, where he served faithfully for many years as the sound and technology technician. Though often behind the scenes, his dedication made a meaningful impact, ensuring worship services ran smoothly and were felt deeply.
Above all, Gene cherished time with his family. He found great joy in his grandchildren, capturing moments with selfies, sharing hearty laughs, and offering endless support. His bond with his loyal dog, Prince-who preceded him in death-was another testament to his loving nature.
Gene is survived by his wife, Katrina Peoples; his children, DeShawn Stallworth (Nikki) and Terrance Peoples; his grandchildren, DeShawn "Bo" Stallworth Jr. and Alexandrea Stallworth; his sisters, Cindy Peoples, Juanita Murray, Michelle Davis, and Lisa Williamson; niece, Alisha Peoples; and nephews, Robert Graves Jr., Lamar Bowers, and Mark Murray Jr. (Angie).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Monroe Peoples Sr. and Donna Peoples; his brother-in-law, Mark Murray Sr.; and his faithful companion, Prince.
Gene will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, humble service, deep love for his family, and enduring faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Charity Christian Revival Center in Knob Noster, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
