Obituary

Geraldine Potter, age 69, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at her home in Knob Noster, MO.

She was born April 24, 1954, in Pikeville, KY, the daughter of Lee and Edna (Ray) Bentley. On June 26, 1970, she and James Potter were united in marriage in Knob Noster.

Geraldine was a loving and faithful wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Pikesville, but moved to Knob Noster in 1954 when she was only three months old. She grew up there and that's where she met her husband James. They were married for 53 years and created a beautiful family. Geraldine greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandkids; they were the light of her life. In her free time she enjoyed riding the boat at the lake, camping, and fishing. Geraldine was a sweet and caring soul and was adored by all of those around her.

She gave her life to Christ in March of this year, shortly after she was diagnosed with cancer. Although she had been a believer for most of her life, she felt a call to be baptized and profess her love for our Lord Jesus Christ. It is without a doubt that she is in Heaven today. The pain we are feeling now will only last a short while, until we meet her again in Heaven. What a beautiful day that will be.

Geraldine is survived by her husband, James Potter; her children, James (Dawn) Potter, Gene (Terry) Potter, Dana (Daniel) Jaco, and Adam (Niki) Potter; her grandchildren, Brandy (Sam) Hough, Austin (Leandra) Barnett, Holly Bauter, Brandon (Brigette) Jaco, Dalton Jaco, Johnathan (Krista) Ransdell, Jessica (Roman) Vega, Ashley (Chris) Liuchan, Johnny (Jenelle) Cox, Tad (Marcyn) Janes, Courtney Janes (Jesse Downs), Shawn (Heather) Barker, Angela (James) Register, Paul Averback, Roger Hayes, and Kristen (Drew) Laramee; her 26 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Cherie (Don) Allard, Crystal Key, Randle (Kathy) Bentley, Lloyd (Vickie) Bentley, and Eugene Bentley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Nell Noble, Charles Bentley, and Lovetta Sharp; and two children in infancy, Bobby and John Bentley.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1 at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Whitmore officiating. Interment will follow in Knob Noster Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Bentley, Travis Bentley, JJ Welch, Randle Bentley, Treyton Ransdell, and John Ransdell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Noble and Daniel Jaco.
