Helen Margaret Rabel, age 95, of Warrensburg passed away September 7, 2023.
Helen was born August 26, 1928 near Bradyville, IA, to Frederick A Adams Sr. and Amanda G (Knizley) Adams. She was the eldest of six children. Helen had three sisters and two brothers.
Helen was married to Forrest Fredrick Rabel October 5, 1946, in Yuma, AZ.
Helen's many talents lead to different jobs. She was a seamstress at Unitog, sales clerk at George's Hobby Shop, head cook at a school cafeteria, and bookkeeper at Woolworth's. Eventually, Helen and Forrest bought and operated the Warrensburg Rental. Helen's skills were used to run the front desk, make seat covers for Swisher riding mowers, and bookkeeping. During this time, she also opened and operated a ceramic shop.
Helen had many hobbies. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, embroidery, sewing and quilting. She made many crafts and shared them with family and friends. She especially enjoyed making a different Christmas ornament each year for her grandchildren to decorate their Christmas trees.
In retirement, Helen and Forrest enjoyed traveling. They journeyed across the country on a motorcycle. When the motorcycle was retired, a camper took its place. They traveled to many places and covered many miles. Many of those miles, they were joined by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Forrest Rabel, parents Frederick Sr. and Amanda (Knizley) Adams, three sisters, and one brother.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Margaret (Pete) Wittman, Brenda (John) Trott, son Ronald (Sue) Rabel, brother Frederick Jr. (Marilyn) Adams, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service at the Veteran's Cemetery in Higginsville, MO will be scheduled at a later date.
