Ima Mae Truex, age 82, passed away at her home in Warrensburg, MO on January 19, 2023, surrounded by her immediate family after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Ima was born in Chilhowee, MO on May 19, 1940, and was the middle daughter of three girls born to Marion and Ethel Daugherty. She grew up in areas near Chilhowee, Centerview, and Warrensburg and later graduated from Warrensburg College High in 1959. She briefly worked at Woolworth's Store and Unitog Manufacturing in Warrensburg prior to marrying the love her life, James Truex on August 20, 1961 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg. Shortly after their union, two sons were born, Toby Lane and Terry Louis.

Ima loved the Lord and was a devout Christian, becoming a Christian in August 1953, later beginning a deeper, fuller walk with Jesus in February 1972. Her family attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Warrensburg where she also taught Sunday School to the primary class for many years. She enjoyed being a devoted mother and housewife, was a very professional cook and baker, and was a member in the Odd Fellows & Rebecca Lodge for many years. James & Ima enjoyed many family, friends, and church functions over their 60+ years together.

She is survived by her husband James Truex  of Warrensburg, MO; a sister, Ina Catherine Gonzagowski (John) of Lee's Summmit, MO; sons Toby Truex (Teresa) of Garden City, MO and Terry Truex (Stephanie) of Chilhowee, MO; six grandchildren (two daughters belonging to Toby) including Kristin Shaw (Aaron) of Warrensburg, MO, Jacob Truex (Melissa) of Chilhowee, MO, Darrell Claunch (Rachel) of Springfield, MO, and Karla Summerford (Mike) of Peculiar, MO; seven great-grandchildren Caitlin, Trevin, Evan, Claire, Grace, Persephone, and Cordelia; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Ethel Daugherty of Warrensburg, MO; and her sister Patsy Summitt of Warrensburg, MO.

Funeral services will be held at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Ima Truex.
