James William
Hull
Aug 13, 1936 — Mar 13, 2025
James (Jim) William Hull, age 88, passed away Thursday, March 13th at Integrity Care in Scottsdale, AZ.
He was born on August 13, 1936, in Warrensburg, MO, the son and only child of Frank and Elizabeth (Farmer) Hull.
On December 29, 1962, he and Barbara Isenhour were united in marriage in Liberty, MO.
Jim was part of the Warrenburg community throughout his life, greeting familiar faces every time he was out and about. He graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1954 and attended MU and CMSC. Jim became the third-generation owner of J.W. Hull and Sons Lumber Company. Contractors and local residents relied on the lumberyard for needed materials, as well as a gathering place for coffee and conversation. Jim was an active member of the Missouri Lumberman's Association during the late 1970's and 1980's. In 1996, Jim was elected the Eastern Commissioner of Johnson County. His commitment to the community was evident as he and the other commissioners worked seamlessly to implement county initiatives. Driving on county roads became a favorite pastime after his retirement. Jim was also active politically and volunteered with the Warrensburg Main Street initiative. Jim was a member of the Elks Lodge for 68 years.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jim and Barbara met a group of friends weekly to enjoy dinner for 15 years. They also camped and traveled with friends in their younger years. They supported their daughters' activities and attended their grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals as often as they could. Jim loved playing pool with his grandchildren during their visits, looking at old cars, and setting up a vintage electric train during the holidays.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Stacy Snoble and husband, Scott, of West Lafayette, IN, and Jennifer Decker of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Trenton Snoble and wife, Jordan, of West Bend, WI, Jared Snoble of Indianapolis, IN, and David and Rachel Decker of Mesa, AZ; one great-grandson, Roran Snoble of West Bend, WI. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in 2017.
A graveside service will take place on Sunday, May 18 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Warrensburg. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 pm at Elks Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Johnson County Historical Society or Warrensburg Senior Center and can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
