Joanna Kay Fleener, age 79, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at her home in Olathe, Kansas with family at her side.

She was born on April 28,1947, the daughter of Emmett and Dorothy (Bird) Fleener, in Lone Tree, Iowa.

Joanna married Clyde Fleener on June 10, 1966 at the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg, Missouri. Together, they have two children, Karen Otero of Olathe, Kansas and Tim Fleener of St. Louis, Missouri; and one granddaughter, Jillian King of Edmond, Oklahoma.

Joanna met Clyde while working at Milburn's as a teenager. She later worked at Vernaz and then at Unity Village. She enjoyed playing cards or dominos with family and friends. She loved vacationing with her family, spending time with her cats, and watching Murder She Wrote. She was an avid reader, and she loved puzzles and board games.

Joanna is survived by her daughter Karen, her son Tim, her granddaughter Jillian, and her sister Julie Lakey of Independence, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband and by her parents.

There will be a graveside service at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 28th at 11 am.
