John Walter Knaus was born on July 27, 1940, near Knob Noster, Missouri, to Harley and Alberta (Snow) Knaus. He peacefully departed this life at his home on October 23, 2025, at 11:00 in the morning, making his sojourn here 85 years 2 months and 27 days. He called for the anointing as his health declined which gave him great comfort.

He spent his days as a farmer and in later years derived much enjoyment from his wood shop, making things for his children and grandchildren.

Feeling the need for a Savior, he was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. With due respect to his beliefs and his heritage, he felt to become a part of the Old German Baptist Church where he remained until death.

On May 8, 1965, he was united in marriage to Zelda Mae Benedict. Together they faced life's joys and sorrows until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Alberta Knaus; parents-in-law Abram and Lucille (Boone) Benedict; one sister, Ruth Olive Barton; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Barton and Marvin Hirt; and two nieces, Esther Hirt, and Lydia (Barton) Bayer.

The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27 at 278 NE MM HWY, Knob Noster, MO 65336. Viewing will be held Sunday, October 27 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

He will be laid to rest in the Wampler Cemetery, there to await the First and Glorious Resurrection.
