John Elmer McKinney, age 68, of Sweet Springs, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at his home.

He was born June 28, 1954 in Mound City, MO, the son of Walter and Gladys (Jones) McKinney.

On June 21, 1986, he and Linda Collett were united in marriage.

John is survived by his sons, Jesse McKinney and Terral McKinney; a brother-in-law, Vernon Collett; two sisters-in-law, Sue Jones and Rose McKinney; and his father-in-law, Melvin Collett.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brothers, Terral McKinney, Bill Jones, and Bobby Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Mt. Zion Church near Dunksburg. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse McKinney, Terral McKinney, Vernon Collett, Robert Bernham, Kennan Hill, and Dennis White. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
