Kevin Barnes Smith, age 71, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO.

Kevin was born in New Bedford, MA, on December 27, 1953, to Wilson and Patricia Smith. He grew up with his brother, Chris, in Aurora, IL. At West Aurora High School Kevin became a decorated archer, winning many Illinois state regional competitions and medals. After high school, he attended Eastern Illinois State University.

In 1976, he joined the United States Air Force and was in the Security Police as flight security controller at Whiteman Air Force Base, MO. His career of 20 years took him to Incirlik, Turkey, where he was in charge of the Security Police Weapons Storage Area. Back at Whiteman, he became the NCOIC of the Security Police Supply for the Minuteman Missile storage areas in central and western Missouri. He earned many commendations and awards including becoming a member of the NCO Leadership Honor Guard and received the Air Force Commendation Medal.

After retiring from the military, Kevin worked at General Electric Corporation in production development and program design.

Kevin was an avid golfer, enjoying the Royal Oaks and Mules National golf course with his many friends! Also, fall mornings were spent hunting deer with friends as well as ducks and geese during that season.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Patricia; and three children, Christopher Wren, Jeannette Jones, and Wilson Smith.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
