Lawrence Allen Lockard, age 90, of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Veterans Home in Warrensburg.

Lawrence was born October 16, 1931, the son of Nelson M. "Dick" Lockard and Susie Modeena (Gillilan) Lockard.

On June 25, 1952, he was married to Betty (Pine) Lockard in Harrison, Arkansas.

Lawrence was a graduate of Centerview High School, Class of 1950. He joined the US Army, serving in Korea from 1952 to 1954 as well as with the Missouri National Guard. He was a former member of the American Legion as well as a member of the United Methodist Church of Warrensburg. Lawrence was a master shooter who liked to hunt and enjoyed the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty (Pine) Lockard in October of 2009, his parents, and his nephew Jeffrey William Owings.

Lawrence is survived by his sister Betty L. Brenner and husband Bill of Warrensburg; four nieces Marsha M. Brenner of Warrensburg, Paula S. Gauchat and husband Edwin of Warrensburg, Marla Dee Hisgen and husband Jeff of La Quinta, California, and Wendy Doyle and husband Jim of Kansas City, Missouri; his nephew Chad Davis and Christi of Warrensburg; as well as seven great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home, with Reverend Peter Norton officiating. Inurnment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or the Johnson County Cancer Foundation and can be left in the care of the funeral home.
