Obituary

Leland Everett Marsh of rural Warrensburg, MO passed away at the home of his son in El Dorado Springs, MO on May 19, 2024, at the age of 93.

He was born October 31, 1930 in rural Concordia, MO, the son of Russell Glenn and Addie Miranda (Bray) Marsh. He attended a one-room school in that area, then graduated from Farmer's High School near Fayetteville, MO in 1948.

Following high school, Leland worked as a farm hand and truck driver until he was drafted and served two years of active duty in the US Marine Corps (1952-1954). After his discharge, Leland worked for Wagoner Tree Service and Ford Motor Company before settling into his life-long career, farming.

On October 27, 1956, Leland married El Louise Davis. To this union, two children were born: Barbara Sue and Ronald Glenn. Leland and El Louise were married for 39 years until her death in 1995. He cared for her so attentively during her nearly five-year battle with cancer. He trusted in Christ and was baptized in 1975 at Liberty Baptist Church in Fayetteville, MO. He was a charter member of the Northern Hills Baptist Church in Warrensburg, MO.

Leland enjoyed his time and work on the farm. His career was also his hobby. In his later years, he loved eating and visiting with his friends at the Warrensburg Senior Center and attending senior dances around the region nearly every Friday and Saturday night with his friend and dancing partner, Janice Smith. He loved bluegrass and "old country" music. He was blessed with a long, full life, living on his own on the farm until the last two weeks of his life.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and four brothers: Gene Marsh, Glen Marsh, Dale Marsh, and Kenneth Marsh.

He is survived by his two children Barbara Edwards (Lyle) of Fayetteville, NC and Ron Marsh (Debra) of El Dorado Springs, MO; one brother Donald Marsh (Marjorie) of Higginsville, MO; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
