Obituary

Lloyd Osborne McMillan, Osborne or Mac, to all his friends, was received into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the age of ninety-seven years and seventeen days. He was born on January 12, 1924 to Lloyd and Myrtle (Osborne) McMillan on a farm northwest of Centerview, Missouri. He graduated from Centerview High School and attended Central Missouri State Teachers College.

He met Imogene Wayman, the new preacher's daughter, at the Warrensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church just days before the beginning of World War II. They were married on July 9, 1944 and had three children: Ron McMillan (Nita) of Memphis, Tennessee; Diana Bergman (Harry) of Springfield, Missouri; and Brian McMillan (Brenda) of Gardner, Kansas plus seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Osborne and Imogene lived on the family farm until a drought caused him to go to work at the Unitog plant, "for the winter." He retired after thirty-six years.  The family always joked, that it was a long winter!

Mac started as a stock boy in the shipping department and rose to be the shipping department foreman. In 1967 he was promoted to be the manager of the Unitog plant in Warsaw, Missouri. After ten years he returned to Warrensburg as the manager of the plant where he had started as a stock boy.

The life of Mac and Imo, centered around their family, faith, and the Warrensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where Imogene taught Sunday school and Osborne was an elder for nearly seventy years.

Mac loved to read history (the thicker the book the better) and argue politics. Both of which he did until only days before his death. After Imo's death, the highlight of his day was the coffee group at the Warrensburg McDonalds, talking about local events and, of course, arguing politics.

In 2013 Mac moved to be near his oldest son and his family in Memphis, Tennessee. Mac may have lived in the South but he never forgot his Missouri roots. He always marveled at the panic that would ensue at the first sight of a snow flake in Memphis. He never wanted to miss a Kansas City football game and couldn't understand why the Memphis TV stations didn't carry all the Chief's games!

Osborne was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McMillan; parents-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. W.O. Wayman; sister, Orene Biehold; and beloved daughter, Diana Bergman.

Friends are invited to a visitation at the Warrensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Friday, February 5, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service Saturday, February 6, 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
