Obituary

Michael "Mike" Wayne Beck, 59, of Knob Noster, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on April 28, 1967, in Littleton, Colorado, to Wayne Thomas Beck and the late Jean Lou Ann (Cross) Beck. On February 14, 2012, he married his loving wife, Catherine (Sison) Beck, in Warrensburg, Missouri, and together they shared 14 years of marriage.

Michael answered the call to serve by enlisting in the United States Air Force on October 3, 1989. Over a distinguished career spanning 21 years, he faithfully served his country with honor, integrity, and unwavering dedication.

Throughout his military career, Master Sergeant Michael Wayne Beck (Ret.) served in the units, wings, squadrons, and commands that reflected his professionalism, leadership, and commitment to excellence. He received countless military awards, decorations, and medals. Beyond the ribbons and commendations, those who served alongside him will remember his quiet strength, dependable character, willingness to mentor others, and steadfast devotion to the mission and to his fellow service members.

Following his retirement from the United States Air Force in 2011, Michael embraced civilian life with the same sense of purpose that defined his military service. He served as an Electronics Instrumentation Technician for the 72d Test and Evaluation Squadron, 753d Test & Evaluation
Group, 53d Wing (Air Combat Command), Whiteman Air Force Base (AFB), MO, providing vital support to numerous missions throughout his civilian career.

Outside of his dedicated service, Michael found his greatest joy outdoors of Upper Michigan and with his family. As an admired beekeeper, he loved tending to his bees and harvesting honey for his small business, Beck's Bees LLC. More importantly, he treasured spending moments with
his first grandchild Lydia. Whether working with his hives, spending time with family, caring for his indoor and outdoor plants, or exploring the serene lakes and vast forests of Upper Michigan, he was a man who genuinely loved family and the natural world outside.

Michael Wayne Beck was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine (Sison) Beck; his father, Wayne Thomas Beck; his brother, Stephen Beck (wife Margery) of Melbourne, Florida; his sons, Aaron Beck, Justin Beck (wife Paige), Darin Beck; and his loving granddaughter, Lydia Beck. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean LouAnn (Cross) Beck. His love, wisdom, and example will continue to guide all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to all who served alongside Michael and to those who have offered their prayers, support, and kindness during this challenging time.

A memorial service with military honors will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. July 30, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Beekeepers Association or the Missouri Beekeepers Association in honor of Michael's love of beekeeping and his lifelong commitment to his service.

Additional service details will be shared with family and friends as they become available.

"Aim High... Fly-Fight-Win." Though his final mission is complete, Michael's legacy of love, honor, courage, sacrifice, and service will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, fellow Airmen, and a grateful nation.
May he rest in eternal peace.
