Finley
Oct 10, 1959 — Mar 19, 2024
Michael Lee Finley, age 64, of La Monte, MO passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Mike was born in Kansas City, MO to Harold and Carolyn Finley. Mike graduated from La Monte High School in 1978 and graduated from Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Computer Science in 1982.
Mike married Julie Keen on March 5, 1983. Mike leaves behind his wife, Julie, three children - Sandra Finley (Jeff), Christopher Finley (Nicole), and Laura Anderson (Aaron) and six grandchildren - Grayson, Lillian, Aaden, Paighton, Aubree and McKenzie. He also leaves behind a sister, Jan DeClue (Stuart) and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Carolyn Finley.
Mike started his career as a computer maintenance engineer with Sperry Univac, including a stint working on the computer system at Fort Leavenworth and at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. He worked in the same capacity for CMC in Little Rock, AR and then at SITA in Atlanta, GA. In March 2023, Mike retired to live the farm life on the family farm in La Monte. In his retirement, he coached the La Monte Girls Volleyball Team and enjoyed traveling with family.
Mike was an avid guitarist and played in many bands along the way. One of those band gigs changed his life as he met his wife, Julie. It was obvious to anyone in the crowd that he loved to play music and wanted everyone to have a good time. Mike also enjoyed playing volleyball and cheering on the Royals and Chiefs. Each year he looked forward to floating down the Jack's Fork River with family and friends and was always up for a competitive game of bags aka cornhole.
Mike was very close to family and had many friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and supporting the grandkids during their activities. He was always ready for a good time and really enjoyed life. Mike never met a stranger. Meeting him once made you feel like you had known him a lifetime. His family loved the big smile and hug Mike gave them each time they saw him.
