Nelda Eunice
Bollenbach
May 12, 1927 — Feb 16, 2022
Knob Noster
Nelda Eunice (Wolf) Bollenbach, 94, of Knob Noster, MO and more recently, Columbia, MO, passed away February 16, 2022, at Tiger Place Assisted Living.
She was born May 12, 1927, in Faribault, MN, the fourth child and second daughter of Edgar Aaron Wolf and Sarah Rebekah (Schreiber) Wolf.
Upon high school graduation from Lakeville, MN, Nelda took the train with a friend to Civil Service clerical jobs in the Washington D.C. Pentagon, for the next 5 years.
On October 29, 1950, she married Donald Charles Bollenbach in Washington D.C. followed by a Niagara Falls honeymoon and a ferry boat across the Great Lakes and a continuation of a road trip to Nerstrand, MN, where they made their home. Nelda worked in Faribault, MN, at the Ford Motor Garage and Donald worked on his Uncle Milton's farm next door in Nerstrand, MN. Donald enlisted in the USAF within the year and they moved to Wichita, KS, where he was first assigned. Nelda worked at Suttons a Vornado manufacturer while Don went on a Navy ship to Guam for 18 months.
Don was then assigned to Whiteman AFB and they had their daughter Vicki Ellen in 1956. Don began working at the Bank of Knob Noster after leaving the service. They decided to stay in Knob Noster, and had their son Craig Charles in 1961.
While Don remained working at the Bank, Nelda volunteered her time in the KN school system through many years of PTA leadership and room mothering, and later worked in the elementary school in the lunch room, and substituted in the other schools when needed. She also volunteered in the United Methodist Church serving in leadership positions with the UM Women's Group and Vacation Bible School, helping with the church thrift sales and auctions throughout the years and other church related activities when needed. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, quilting, and playing pitch. She baked the best banana bread and apple pie!! Not many people outside the family tasted her pie because Don wouldn't let her take it anywhere since he loved it so much.
Don and Nelda were married just 3 months short of 66 years. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2016.
Survivors include daughter Vicki Ellen and husband Dr. James Thomas Brocksmith of Hartsburg, MO; son Craig Charles and wife The Rev. Linda Bollenbach of Nixa, MO; granddaughter Rachel Brocksmith Brammeier and husband Benjamin Brammeier, Esq. of Columbia, MO; Rebecca Ann and husband Clayton Tyler Scheets of Ashland, MO, Kelsey Grace Bollenbach of Springfield, MO, grandson Michael Charles Bollenbach of Springfield, MO, Spencer Thomas Brocksmith (fiancée Erin Elaine Rose) of Washington, MO, great granddaughters Emma Ann Scheets, and Adelyn Jane Brammeier.
