Obituary

Pamela Johnson was born on February 20, 1960, in Whitesburg, KY, the eldest daughter of Lonnie Johnson and Jacqueline Bentley.

Pam met her future husband, Troy Holbrook, in elementary school. They remained pen pals when he moved out of state in 8th grade, and on May 15, 1981, in Jackhorn, KY, she and Troy were united in marriage.

She graduated from Fleming-Neon High School in 1979 with a desire to be a teacher inspired by her favorite teacher, Mr. Honeycutt. She went on to get married and focus on her kids but never lost the drive to graduate from college so she could educate students. In December 2009, she achieved that dream and taught high school English to hundreds of students within the Calhoun, LaMonte, and Mexico, MO school districts.

Pam loved to read and enthusiastically gathered a collection of antique books by her favorite author, Frank Yerby. She loved theatre, attending shows and plays in Kansas City multiple times a year, and in 2023, she and her family went to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, her first trip to NYC. Loving to travel, she recently went on a tour of the West with her sister, where they stopped at Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon, and her particular favorite - the Breaking Bad store in Albuquerque. Most of all, she loved her family and being a grandmother (nanny). She went out of her way to be there for anyone at any time.

Pam is survived by her two daughters, Ashley Holbrook and husband, Doug Washington of Mission, KS and JJ Holbrook, of Warrensburg, MO; two sons, Daniel Holbrook, of Arlington, TN, and Kevin Carter of Blue Springs, MO; two brothers, Kim Patrick Johnson of Lexington, KY and Larry Johnson of Cromona, KY; a sister, Sue Johnson of Winter Haven, FL; three grandchildren, Jocelynn and Coralea Holbrook, and Anna Carter; and her boyfriend of many years, Russell Toalson of Mexico, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Holbrook, and her parents.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM for a Memorial Gathering on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg MO. The family will hold graveside services at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Pam Holbrook Memorial Fund through the LaMonte R-IV School District Foundation. They can be left in the care of the funeral home.
