Growing up on the family farm was a very impactful time for Randy. It was there that he learned the importance of hard work and he gained many of the skills he carried throughout his life. He made lifelong friends of his classmates and neighbors. Randy was devoted to his class of '72, making time to visit and help them as often as possible.
Randy had so many talents and interests and he packed a lot of living into his short 67 years! He was self-taught and could literally do anything! He owned Barber Electric and Plumbing in Lamoni IA and was a home builder in Warrensburg. He could operate any kind of tool and machinery and drive any kind of vehicle. He then turned his attention to residential and home design and formed his company, Arbetek. His designs were used all over the Midwest.
His many passions included woodworking. He and Marilyn lovingly remodeled their home. He built furniture, including cribs for his grandchildren. He loved restoring his Corvette and collected Corvette and Rt. 66 items. He and Marilyn enjoyed traveling and camping with their 5th wheel camper. Randy loved to cook, especially with his grill and smoker. He loved the great outdoors, gardening, building fires and sleeping under the stars with his best friend Shop Cat Woody.
Anyone who knows Randy can tell you about his smile that would light up the room, his quick wit, his ability to make friends anywhere, how he's always there to help anyone in need, his devotion to his family, his generosity, and his zest for life. He and Marilyn opened their home to many over the years. He is loved by and will be missed by many.
