Rose Marcine
Pennington
Jul 30, 1929 — Sep 8, 2024
Rose Marcine Parsons Pennington died peacefully, September 8, 2024, at EW Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sedalia, MO.
She was born in rural Johnson County, Missouri on July 30, 1929, to William Wilson Parsons and Bessie Magdalene Harmon Parsons. She and Roy E. "Bill" Pennington were united in marriage May 6, 1947, in Mound City, KS and were married 49 years until he passed in 1996.
Known to many as Tanny, from a childhood nickname that stuck, she was a one-of-a-kind lady to everyone who knew her. No matter what iteration of her name she responded to, and she used them all, there would be a story or a memory to share, sometimes without a filter... She had a knack of asking a record number of questions and always wanted to know the happenings of every member of her family that she so dearly loved. She also had the ability to get more information out of a stranger quicker than water through a sieve and way before they knew they'd given it to her. In later years her family also added Talkie Talkie to her name collection. She was kind and loving and did her best to entertain everyone she came in contact with.
Rose is survived by sister, Juanita Jeanneane "Tic" Sutton and sister-in-law Mary Lou Lawson, both of Warrensburg; son David Allen Pennington, Florida; daughter Sandra Pennington-Galvin (Brian), Warrensburg, and family; granddaughter Kristen Pennington (Jake Blevins), Winter Haven, FL; grandson Josh Blevins, OK; 11 nieces and nephews, 20 great-, 31 great-great-, and one great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Neil Warren Parsons, sister and brother-in-law Helen and Don Ament, brother and sister-in-law J.W. and Thelma Parsons; brother-in-law Don E. "Pat" Sutton, brother-in-law Buddy Ray Lawson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harry Eugene and Marie Pennington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chester Lee and Shirley Louise Pennington; three nephews and two great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday September 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren funeral home in Warrensburg, MO. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A graveside service will follow at the Sunset Hills Cemetery located in Warrensburg.
