Sara Lynn
Ohrenberg Pfeiffer
Jan 23, 1970 — May 4, 2026
Sara Lynn Ohrenberg Pfeiffer, 56, died at her home in Belton, Missouri, on the evening of May 4, 2026.
Sara was deeply devoted to family and friends, being the living definition of a good and loving person to everyone who knew her. She had a rare ability to make people feel welcome, cared for, and important, and her family and friends will forever cherish the love, laughter, and memories she created throughout her life.
Sara was born on January 23, 1970, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, to Bob and Carolyn Ohrenberg. In 1975, her family moved to Warrensburg, Missouri, when her father began teaching at Central Missouri State University. Sara spent much of her childhood in Concordia, MO, where both sets of grandparents, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, lived nearby. She spent countless summers, holidays, and vacations with family at the farm, fishing, swimming, and playing with her cousins.
As a child, Sara was remembered as sweet and well-behaved but surprisingly fearless, frequently needing to be rescued after climbing too high in a tree or boldly jumping into the deep end of the pool before she could swim often alongside her cousin and lifelong friend Julie. Sara was known as a fun-loving person who maintained many close friendships throughout her life.
Sara attended the Lab School through fourth grade and later graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1988. She was an avid athlete who participated in track, softball, and other sports throughout junior high and high school. She later attended the University of Missouri School of Nursing, beginning a career centered on caring for others.
Shortly after graduating from nursing school, Sara married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Fred Pfeiffer, on June 13, 1992. Together they began a life and family that would become the center of her world. They first moved to Kennewick, Washington, where both Marisa and Jarrett were born, later returning to Missouri and settling in Blue Springs, where they were active members of Timothy Lutheran Church. Sara and Fred later built their home in Belton, Missouri.
Together, they built a life centered on love, generosity, and family that extended well beyond their immediate household. Over the years, many other children, friends, and pets found love, support, and belonging in their home.
Early in their marriage, Sara and Fred discovered their love of "lake life" and instilled that same love of boating, water skiing, camping, and time with family and friends in their children, building cherished memories together at Bull Shoals Lake.
Outside of her family, nursing was Sara's lifelong passion. Over the course of her career, she worked at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Washington, Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, Mid-America Rehabilitation Hospital in Overland Park, and later with Nevro. Whether caring for patients professionally or helping family and friends personally, Sara was known for relieving the suffering of others and helping those around her through difficult times with compassion, strength, and kindness.
Sara is also remembered for always being extremely well put together, carrying herself with style and grace. She was known for being able to plan a party or vacation as well as an outfit, down to every detail. She loved to cook, sew, and decorate, trying new recipes and creating beautiful gatherings and celebrations every year for family and friends. Her kitchen was often where everyone gathered. In later years, Sara turned her creative talents for photography and flower arranging into abusiness, "Petals and Poses," helping create beautiful memories for others.
Sara always brought her best self and inspired others to do the same. Her family and friends feel incredibly blessed to have had Sara in their lives and remain blessed by the lives and relationships she helped create.
More than anything, Sara was a deeply devoted wife, mother, and "Gigi." Her children and granddaughters, Merritt and Marlowe, were the joy of her life.
Sara is survived by her husband, Fredrick Pfeiffer; her daughter, Marisa Pfeiffer Bowers (Trevor); her son, Jarrett Pfeiffer (Catherine); her grandchildren, Merritt, Marlowe and BaileyBowers; her parents, Bob and Carolyn Ohrenberg; her brother, Mark Ohrenberg; and many close family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Helen Ohrenberg, and her maternal grandparents, Marvin and Edna Wienberg.
