Obituary

Shelby Jean Brant of Knob Noster, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, surrounded by her family. Shelby was born on October 6, 1936, in Warrensburg, Missouri to George and Ruby (Thompson) Dillingham. Shelby grew up alongside her three sisters in Warrensburg where she attended College High, and shortly thereafter she met the love of her life Charles Brant, they were married on October 10, 1954.

Following their marriage, the couple moved to Knob Noster, MO where they started their life together. Shelby started working in the jewelry business and continued for over 50 years. Her successful career afforded her and Charles the opportunity to travel around the world. Shelby and Charles raised three children, two sons and a daughter, who provided musical entertainment for many in the area for years. You would often find Shelby in the front row, dancing and singing along as their number one fan.

In 1992, Shelby and Charles were two of the founding members of Heartland Baptist Church in Knob Noster, where she served as Sunday School Director for countless years and grew the congregation to close to 500 members. Not much got her more excited than a large number in attendance at church, especially Sunday school.

Grandma Shelby, as she was called by anyone who ever met her, related or not, will aways be remembered as the sweetest lady in the room, and she didn't miss the chance to give everyone she saw a big hug, both coming and going. She loved having big Sunday dinners and the feeling of having a full house of family, who she loved more than anything.

Shelby is survived by her husband of 70 years Charles; her son Phillip (Vicky); her son Roger (Paula); her daughter Marcia (Kerry) all of Knob Noster, MO. Her sister Kay Truelove of Warrensburg, Linda (Andy) Anderson of Burlington, NC; as well as seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Dustin) Silk, Jeremy (Tina) Brant, Amber Starr, Emily (Michael) Gaydos, Josh (Jamie) Brant, Lindsay (Paul) Winfrey, and Melodi Brant. Shelby is also survived by 22 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister, Marilyn Lemmon and great-grandson Trenton Starr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Heartland Church in Knob Noster, with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Brant, Josh Brant, Dustin Silk, Michael Gaydos, Colin Starr and Elijah Avery. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Winfrey, Tyler Silk, Ethan Gaydos, Nate Salinas, Gabriel Winfrey and Lucas Brant.
