Susan Jean
Mccabe
Dec 13, 1949 — May 9, 2025
Susan Jean (Fisher) McCabe, age 75, passed away on May 9, 2025, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Born on December 13, 1949, in Red Wing, Minnesota, Susan held a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and spent part of her career teaching young minds before embracing what she considered her most important role-being a mother.
A devoted reader, bird watcher, recipe enthusiast, and lover of flowers and nature, Susan was known for her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering faith. Her Christian beliefs guided her to love unconditionally and to ensure that everyone she met felt seen, heard, and valued. She had a unique gift for giving each person exactly the kind of love they needed.
Susan met the love of her life, Dennis R. McCabe, while they were students at the University of Northern Colorado. After graduating, they married and began their 43-year journey together-a life filled with adventure, love, and service. Throughout Dennis's career, they traveled and lived across the United States and abroad, calling places like Kansas, California, England, Germany, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Illinois, Arizona, and Missouri home.
She is survived by her daughters, Melanie McCabe and Kristen McCabe, her beloved fur-grandbaby Bella Jean McCabe, and her sisters Barbara Eliason (Gary "Mel" Eliason) and Debbie Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis R. McCabe, and her parents, Gordon and Janet Fisher.
A celebration of life service is yet to be determined, but memorial contributions are suggested to the Furry Kids Refuge and left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
