Obituary

Tahn Frye passed away peacefully Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at his home Briar Creek. "Tahn " Lyle William Frye was born on September 8th, 1945 in Norfolk, Virginia to Arthur and Violet Adams Frye.

Tahn was known as the old man in the woods, the Colonel, a lover of liberty, and dear friend. He was a unique blend of cowboy, hippie, musician, libertarian, and naturalist. He enjoyed watching the endless interplay of nature at Briar Creek and would always welcome a visit from a friend, of which there were many. Tahn was an avid reader and was always reading on a variety of subjects to stay aware.

He deeply loved his family and friends, his heritage, his country and especially the feeling of freedom. He also wanted everybody to recognize and respect the personal rights and property rights of others.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister-Pat Rose, brother-Bill House and former wife-Marie Frye. He is survived by son-Travis Laubin Frye, daughter-Tuanna Moon Mays, granddaughters-Alena Marie (Adam) Lutz, Allison Dawn (Brandon) Tuskan and Analese Joy, and great grandchildren-Kora Kristine and Reid Randall Lutz and Aurora Ray Tuskan. In lieu of flower arrangements, Tahn requested random plantings of native wildflowers.

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
