Thomas
Neal
Jul 1, 1952 — Apr 24, 2024
Thomas Wayne Neal, beloved husband and father, passed away on April 24, 2024 at the age of 71. Born on July 1, 1952, Tom lived a life rich in dedication, enthusiasm, and adventure.
For four decades, Tom was the proud owner and operator of B&B Auto Parts- located next to his mother's flower shop across the street from the statue of Old Drum. He took pride in his vocation and place in the downtown Warrensburg heritage. Tom became a trusted friend and mentor to many in the community providing exceptional service and participating in the vo-tech program as both a supporter and event judge.
Tom was also a cherished member of the Heckart community center, where he enjoyed participating in swimming classes and dressing as Santa for the holidays. He also dedicated himself to coaching numerous youth basketball and football teams while also running the chains for college and high school football games. His commitment and passion for community and sports left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
An avid outdoorsman, Tom found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Whether hunting or fishing, backpacking or camping, he treasured every moment spent exploring the trails, streams, and lakes. He enjoyed sharing this passion with his friends and family, from canoe trips and fishing tournaments to family bicycle rides on the Katy Trail.
Tom's adventurous spirit was evidenced by his countless motorcycle journeys crisscrossing the nation. From fundraisers to Sturgis rallies, and even following his son's football team to games in Minnesota and Central Texas, Tom embraced every opportunity to hit the open road with enthusiasm and Rhonda holding on tight.
Tom found great enjoyment in games of strategy like cards or chess. He relished spending many late nights playing pitch or poker with family and friends. Tom was also the organizer and commissioner of a stratomatic baseball league involving his brother, nephews, and son. Tom's love for these games was not just about winning but about the joy of shared experiences with those closest to him- though, with Mickey Mantle on his stratamatic team, he did win a lot.
Tom will be remembered for his friendship, counsel, and unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda Neal; his son Lance Neal (Jessica); his grandchildren Isabelle, Jackson, and Elise; his brother Robert Neal (Margaret); his sister Janice Schneider (Phil); as well as several cherished and loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Thomas Neal and Helen (Goucher) Neal; and his twin sisters, Jeanne Jackson and Judy Looper.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the Elks Lodge in Warrensburg, MO, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and share stories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Old Drum Animal Shelter and can be left in the care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
