Obituary

Vivian Frances (Baile) Turnbow, age 94, of Warrensburg, MO passed to heaven on October 11, 2024.

Vivian was born October 12, 1929, at her family home near Warrensburg to Herbert C. and Irene (Neil) Baile. She attended Dawson #37 School, the same school both of her parents attended. She graduated Warrensburg College High School in 1947 then attended CMSU, now UCM.

She joined Church of the Brethren and later joined First Christian Church of Warrensburg. She belonged to Christian Women's Fellowship and was a charter member of the '49ers Sunday School class.

Vivian was married to William H. (Bill) Turnbow in October 1948 where they shared 68 years of marriage. She was lucky to live in her family home on the (now) Turnbow Century Farm for the majority of her long life. Vivian was very knowledgeable on the various vegetation native to the area. She served as a historian to both the Baile and Turnbow families, writing down family history dating back several generations.

Vivian was a long-time homemaker and did office work at her husband's John Deere dealership and a local dental office. She belonged to extension clubs including Sunny Side, Good Neighbors and Valley Homemakers.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents Herbert & Irene Baile, her two sisters, Herberene Baile & Marjorie (Baile) Cummings, her husband, Bill Turnbow, and her son, Bennett L. Turnbow.

She is survived by her son, Herb (Debbie) Turnbow, daughter-in-law Teila Turnbow, her grandchildren, Drew (Lindsay) Turnbow, Morgan Turnbow, Bendrick Turnbow, Tim (Jackie) Turnbow, Katie (Seth) Miller, and her great grandchildren Willa, Blythe, Margot, Beau and Bernadette.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Vivian/Mom/Grandma/Gigi will be dearly missed by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her strength, charm and love for her family will not soon be forgotten. Rest easy, we will see you again.
