Obituary

Wanda Jean (Johnson) Kreisel, age 80, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at her home in Warrensburg, MO.

Wanda was born on March 28, 1943 in Greenridge, MO, the daughter of Gene and Myrtle (Elliott) Johnson. On August 31, 1963, Wanda was united in marriage to Marvin Lee Kreisel. They were married 60 years and created a beautiful family and life together. Wanda was baptized into the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Warrensburg, MO in 1965, where she was a member for over 50 years.

After marrying Marvin, they spent 10 years moving around Missouri doing road construction work. Wanda made every location they lived in a "home away from home." They ended up in Warrensburg and have resided there for over 50 years. As Marvin stated, "Can't afford to leave, can't afford to stay."

Wanda was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family always came first and she always found herself spoiling them with her specialties, like peanut butter balls (which everyone fought over), casseroles, cinnamon rolls, and fried chicken. She would always do anything for her family. She was an amazing cook and seamstress through the years and loved sharing her expertise with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also served as a 4-H leader for several years.

Wanda and her husband took great pride in their garden and flowers and took joy in being outside together. She lived her life one day at a time. She also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports and any other extracurricular activities they were involved in. Wanda was a beautician and owner of Georgia's Beauty Service for over 50 years before retiring on August 31, 2022 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

She is survived by her husband Marvin Kreisel of the home; her children DeeDee Vogt (Michael) of Holton, KS, Paula Sheil (Sean) of Maryville, MO, Lyle Kreisel (Betsy Wright) of Warrensburg, MO, and Marla Reid (Jeff) of Bowling Green, MO; her twelve grandchildren Nathan Vogt (Bailey), Jennifer Lickteig (Kyle), Felicia Sheil, Jessica Sheil, Jarrett Kreisel (Hannah), Emma Kreisel, Cole Kreisel, Matthew Reid (Megan), Kayla Peak (Brandon), Kevin Reid (Ashley), Seth Reid, and Sara Reid; her eight great-grandchildren Alivia Erlebach, Addalee Erlebach, Kindyl Peak, Kenedi Peak, Zion Reid, Alora Reid, Madalynn Vogt, and Amelia Lickteig; her brother Leroy Johnson; her sister Arlene (Johnson) Woolery; her sister-in-law Janice Johnson; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Myrtle (Elliott) Johnson, her mother- and father-in-law Norman and Florence (Frisch) Kreisel, her sister Marjorie Goodrick, and her brother Ronald Johnson.
