William Scott
Iiams
May 18, 1959 — Aug 3, 2026
William Scott Iiams, 67, was born on May 18, 1959, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, to Bill and Dixie Iiams. Later that year, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Scott spent most of his life.
A lifelong athlete, Scott attended Hickman Mills High School, participating in football, basketball, baseball, and track. One of his favorite stories was missing his high school graduation in 1977 to compete at the state track meet in the triple jump. He later attended the University of Central Missouri, earning both his Bachelors and Master degrees, and built lifelong friendships and countless memories.
Scott worked for 7UP before beginning a career with Coca-Cola, which took his family to Illinois before returning to Kansas City in 2000. A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, he faithfully kept his season tickets and rarely missed a game, even while living 7 hours away. Some of his most treasured memories were attending countless Chiefs games with his son, sharing a bond rooted in their lifelong love of the team. Music was also a defining part of Scott's life. He loved attending concerts and took great pride in passing his appreciation for great music on to his daughter.
Scott married in 1984 and became a proud father in 1987, welcoming a second child in 1990. Becoming "Papa Scott" in 2017 was one of the greatest joys of his life. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren, especially cheering on his oldest grandson in sports.
Scott faced his cancer diagnosis with courage and determination, never allowing it to define him. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his gift for conversation, his childlike spirit, and the happiness he brought to everyone around him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know and love him.
Scott will be survived by his two children Callie (Joe) Armin and Jason Iiams whom he shared with Susan Iiams; his three grandchildren Matthew, Nell and Jamison Armin. He will be deeply missed by his significant other Kelly Mansel-Ramsey.
